Skinbetter Science routine: AlphaRet, Alto, InterFuse and Trio, morning and evening

Skinbetter Science AlphaRet Clearing Serum with 2% salicylic acid and niacinamide

The Skinbetter Science products we carry are designed to layer: an antioxidant serum in the morning, AlphaRet at night, and targeted serums and creams for tone, lines, the eye area and the neck. This guide sets out where each product we carry fits, morning and evening, and how to choose between the pairs that are easy to confuse.

Morning routine

  1. Cleanse with a cleanser that suits your skin; see cleansers and toners.
  2. Serums: Mystro first, if you use it, since it goes on before other serums. Then Even for the look of dark spots, and InterFuse Intensive Treatment Lines on the areas you want to focus on.
  3. Alto: Alto Advanced Defense and Repair Serum every morning, under your SPF.
  4. Eyes: Instant Effect Eye Gel, applied with your ring finger and left to dry fully, about two minutes, before concealer.
  5. Neck: TechNeck Perfecting Cream, swept upward from the collarbone to the jaw.
  6. Moisturizer: Trio Rebalancing for combination skin, Hydration Boosting Cream for skin that feels dehydrated, or InterFuse Treatment Cream Face & Neck to cover the face and neck in one step.
  7. SPF: a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher on the face, eye area, neck and chest.

Evening routine

  1. Cleanse.
  2. Serums: Mystro and Even, if you use them, and InterFuse Intensive Treatment Lines where you want it.
  3. AlphaRet: AlphaRet Overnight Cream or AlphaRet Clearing Serum (see below).
  4. Eyes: EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Cream, patted around the orbital bone rather than dragged.
  5. Neck: TechNeck Perfecting Cream.
  6. Moisturizer: Trio Luxe for dry skin, Trio Rebalancing for combination skin, or InterFuse Treatment Cream Face & Neck as your final step.

Once or twice a week, Refresh Detoxifying Scrub Mask works as either a clay mask (left on for 5 to 10 minutes) or a scrub (massaged for 30 to 60 seconds) on clean, damp skin, then rinsed off.

Even and AlphaRet can be paired in the evening if you are focusing on both uneven tone and texture, and Mystro works alongside both.

AlphaRet Overnight Cream or AlphaRet Clearing Serum?

Both are built on AlphaRet, which combines a retinoid and lactic acid in a single molecule. Choose the one that matches your skin.

  • AlphaRet Overnight Cream is for the look of fine lines, uneven texture and tone. Start two to three nights a week and build up; it is designed to be gentle as you work toward nightly use.
  • AlphaRet Clearing Serum adds 2% salicylic acid and niacinamide, for oily, congestion-prone skin. It addresses the look of blemishes and visible signs of aging in one nightly step. Apply 3 to 4 drops to clean, dry skin, starting three to four times a week, then follow with a non-comedogenic moisturizer.

With either one, apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning.

Trio Luxe or Trio Rebalancing?

Both use the same proprietary lipid trio of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids.

  • Trio Luxe Moisture Treatment is rich, for dry to very dry skin, mature skin and winter or dry climates, with peptides, hyaluronic acid and a botanical antioxidant blend. Use a generous amount as the final evening step; very dry skin can use it in the morning too, under SPF. It makes a substantial evening layer if you use retinol or other active ingredients.
  • Trio Rebalancing Moisture Treatment is lighter, for combination skin with both dry and oily zones, with niacinamide to help balance the look of oily zones. Use it morning and evening. It is a good fit if richer creams feel too heavy, or if you live in a warm or humid climate.

Hydration Boosting Cream is a third option: a gel-cream built around hyaluronic acid in three molecular weights, for combination and oily skin that still feels dehydrated. It is non-comedogenic and layers cleanly under SPF and makeup.

Face, neck and eyes

  • InterFuse Treatment Cream Face & Neck is one cushiony moisturizer for both areas, with a peptide and amino acid complex, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. Sweep it from the décolletage up across the neck and onto the face.
  • TechNeck Perfecting Cream is a dedicated twice-daily step for the neck and décolletage, with a multi-peptide complex, for the look of horizontal neck lines and crepey texture.
  • Instant Effect Eye Gel is the morning option. A silicate-based polymer gives an immediate smoothing effect on the look of puffiness and texture, with caffeine, peptides and hyaluronic acid for longer-term care. The effect is most noticeable when the gel is applied cool, so keep it in the refrigerator.
  • EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Cream is the evening option: AlphaRet at a concentration suited to the eye area, with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and a peptide complex. Build up over the first two weeks.
